Raw Color Ribbons for Santa & Cole

April 2013

Santa&Cole-Ribbons-26

The studio was commissioned to develop new colour schemes for the woven ribbon of the spanish design label Santa & Cole. These ribbons are wrapped around a steel frame to become the lampshades of the existing Trípode series.

After an intensive research and visit in Barcelona several weavings were tested, with diagonals, lines, dots… The nice detail about the series is that every ribbon is woven from three different colours. This might sound very colourful, but by carefully selecting the yarns, they blend in the eye of the viewer. If you look very closely you can distinguish each yarn, and this is what makes the ribbon so alive.

The three new shades (terracotta, mustard and forest green) are available for the entire family of ribbon shade lamps, from the small table lamp to the Trípode standard lamp and the giant GT1500 pendant lamp. They are an addition to the three basic colours (cream, red and black) designed by the Santa & Cole Team in 1994.
