The exhibition Colour as a Medium will feature a variety of innovative projects by the Dutch design team Raw Color, which is led by the designers Daniera ter Haar and Christoph Brach. The show will take place at the Lamar Dodd School of Art in the first floor main Gallery from September 20 to October 18, 2012. This exhibition showcases an international spirit of collaboration that will link students within the art school with contemporary design as well as the community at large with truly inspiring design projects.
The show also represents a collaborative spirit within the Lamar Dodd School of Art between Graphic Design and Fabric Design, as the exhibition was jointly curated by these areas along with the Gallery Director. The designs spring from the commercial world while incorporating film, printmaking and the use of photography. In addition, each project has a research element such as the investigation of natural pigments or the synthesis of various trees into paper pulp. Raw color has received numerous awards and accolades in Europe, where they been invited/commissioned by designers such as Daphna Laurens. This show marks their debut at a University in the United States.
The exhibition was accompanied with a lecture and workshops.
