For the exhibition ‘Home Futures’ a group of designers has been commissioned by OpenStructures to develop a series of new pieces. Raw Color was commissioned to create hacks from these pieces by recombining them and adding elements from the OS archive. The new hacks show the future potential of dis- and re-assembled building parts into new functions. The used elements derive from original designs by Normal Studio, Atelier Ternier, Studio Minale Maeda and Disarming Design from Palestine. OpenStructures is an exploration on open modular construction where anyone designs for everyone on the basis of one shared grid. It is an open source modular construction model based on a shared geometrical grid, called the OS grid. It was conceived by designers Thomas Lommée and Christiane Hoegner.
