The Dutch studio Raw Color received the graphic design commission to repaint the facades of six high-voltage transformers in different districts of Chaumont. The production is realised in collaboration with Le Signe, the City of Chaumont and Enedis — electricity provider.
Alphabet, Bold & Triangle are three different graphic proposals to be discovered in public space. Each proposal is represented by two transformer houses. The location names are the departure point for the concept ‘Alphabet’. The individual letters are translated into coloured rectangles on a specific position in the generative pattern referring to their initial position in the alphabet. The concept ’Bold’ transforms each side view into a different pattern, that have a bright, geometric and bold character. Triangular surfaces connect several elements, like corners and doors.
This permanent installation is an introduction for long term projects of graphic design in urban space of Chaumont, aiming to improve the environment of inhabitants, as well as the recognition of graphic design among local operators. Booklet and guide available at Le Signe bookstore
