The visual identity for design studio Maarten Kolk and Guus Kusters is created by Raw Color. Their work contains self initiated and commissioned projects, focussing on origin esthetics, production processes, flora and fauna. The projects range from interiors to products. For us it was important that their tactility, refinement and way of working is visible in their identity. We chose to photograph samples and material studies taken from their studio, these were divided in groups; Flora and Fauna, Colour, Production Process and Environment. For the paper we choose two different ones, the stationary is a thin, 60 grams, half transparant paper. We placed an image on both sides, overlapping each other, which creates a new shape. The business cards represent images from the different categories, on which a high-gloss black line is silkscreened. This line came back in the typography, were parts of the name are crossed out to highlight their initials MKGK.
